The young gentleman initially worked with Jennings Mortgages, an independent finance mortgage company for five years, where he began as a rookie, took on 300 clients, and successfully built his portfolio to more than 500 customers.   • Communication skills: The role of mortgage brokers is essential to bridge the gap between lenders and consumers. The complex terminology that surrounds mortgages may confuse borrowers. Hence, brokers must hone their communication skills and explain properly how the financial world works in simple and plain terms. Applying for a loan can be a stressful task and as a broker, one must make the process straightforward.
  • Decision-making skills: As independent mortgage brokers, Mitch Boulden says people need to enjoy and feel confident about managing the workload and taking full responsibility for it. The marketing decisions will rest with them and so will the closing deals and making sure that the utility bills get paid on time. Hence, working upon decision-making skills is equally important.
